We want to wish you and your family a safe and joyful Fourth of July. Today is a day to celebrate community, family, and freedom.
While you enjoy the holiday weekend, here is a brief look back at the history behind the celebration:
The Declaration: On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence.
The Separation: This document formally announced that the original thirteen colonies were separating from the rule of Great Britain.
The Author: Thomas Jefferson drafted the primary text. It famously asserted the fundamental rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The Tradition: The very next year, in 1777, Philadelphia marked the first anniversary with fireworks and thirteen cannon shots.
The Holiday: Congress officially established Independence Day as a national holiday almost a century later, in 1870.
We are proud to live and work in the Lecanto and Citrus County community. We hope you enjoy the fireworks, the food, and the time spent with those who matter most.
Happy Fourth of July from everyone at Poshmaid.
